Frequently Asked Questions
A task light provides focused, ergonomic lighting directly at the work surface, e.g. at workbenches, assembly stations or inspection workstations.
When purchasing, you should pay particular attention to the following:
-
Illuminance: sufficient brightness appropriate to the visual task
-
Glare control: comfortable, uniform light (UGR < 19)
-
Colour rendering: CRI ≥ 80–90 for natural colour recognition (colours appear as they do in sunlight)
-
Energy efficiency: modern LED technology
-
Durability: robust construction, high IP rating (IP 67) for industrial environments
We would be happy to advise you on this topic and help you find the optimal LED lighting for your workplaces.-
The recommended illuminance depends on the type of activity:
-
Rough work: approx. 300 lux
-
Assembly & inspection: 750–1,000 lux
-
Precision engineering & inspection work: 1,500–2,000 lux
The relevant standard is DIN EN 12464-1 “Lighting of indoor workplaces”.
-
LED workstation lights are now state-of-the-art and offer clear advantages:
-
Up to 70% lower energy consumption
-
Long service life of 30,000 to 60,000 hours (= 14–20 years based on 60,000 hours of typical use in industrial environments)
-
Consistent light quality: uniform light without flickering, which is easy on the eyes and promotes long periods of concentrated work
-
Compact design with high luminous efficacy
-
Optional sensors (motion, brightness)
This makes them more durable, efficient and ergonomic than conventional fluorescent lamps.
-
Good lighting enhances well-being and performance:
-
Less eye strain and fewer headaches
-
Improved concentration thanks to uniform brightness
-
A natural sense of the circadian rhythm
-
Greater precision and safety during manual tasks
Poor lighting, on the other hand, leads to fatigue and increases the risk of errors.
-
Glare-free light prevents distracting reflections and excessive brightness contrasts.
This ensures comfortable vision, precise work and less eye strain.
In technical terms: the lower the UGR value, the less glare there is.
Typical UGR values in industry are:
-
UGR 19 Reading, writing, computer work, inspection tasks (office workstations)
-
UGR 22: Work in precision industry and trades (e.g. assembly)
-
UGR 25-28: Heavy-duty work, warehouses, corridors, stairwells
The ACR LUMINA VitaWork workplace light meets these requirements.
We would be happy to advise you on this topic and help you find the optimal LED lighting for your requirements.
-
Modern LED workplace lights are particularly sustainable because they:
-
are energy-efficient (up to 70% lower energy consumption)
-
have a long service life (lower resource consumption)
-
use recyclable components (e.g. aluminium housings)
-
support smart control systems (e.g. motion sensors)
-
Lux (lx) measures illuminance, which refers to the amount of light falling on a surface.
Recommended values according to DIN EN 12464-1:
-
General industrial workstation: 500 - 750 lux
-
Workbench / Assembly area: 1.000 - 1.500 lux
-
Precision work or quality inspection: up to 2.000 lux
Tip: A combination of general lighting and direct workplace lighting provides the best illumination.
The ACR LUMINA VitaWork workplace light provides 1.500 - 1.600 lux with a luminaire length of 1.000 mm and a mounting height of 1 m.
We would be happy to carry out individual calculations and produce our product tailored to your requirements.
-
The light colour influences mood and perception:
-
Neutral white (approx. 4.000 K) promotes concentration and creates a businesslike atmosphere, ideal for general lighting
-
Daylight white (from 5.000 K) has a stimulating effect and offers high contrast, perfect for precision tasks or inspection stations
A combination of both colour temperatures in the workspace is ideal.
ACR LUMINA VitaWork has a standard light colour of 5.000 K (neutral to daylight white). Other light colours are available on request.
-
A workbench requires focused, bright and glare-free light.
Recommendation:
-
Illuminance: 1.000 - 1.500 lux
-
Light colour: 4.000 - 5.000 K (neutral to daylight white)
-
Protection rating: IP40 - IP 65 (depending on the environment)
-
Housing: robust, dustproof and shock-resistant
-
Features: articulated arm, dimmer, optional sensor control
This ensures that the light remains constant and comfortable even under changing working conditions.
The ACR LUMINA VitaWork workplace light meets these specifications having 1.500 lux, 5.000 K, a protection rating exceeding IP65 (namely IP67 = protection against dust and water), various clip systems and light colours to choose from, optional: dimmer including push-button/switch and much more.
